Chasing Cardinals

Morning walk turned into bird chasing, by their sound. And later on finding out what they really are, thanks to Google.

I thought they were jays before. What I have noticed about them was their sound. And on some of my morning walks, I would hear them. With that distinct sound pattern. Metallic chirp. High note. Captivating. I would look for them, but they were so elusive.

Today’s walk was a lucky one. It was cold, but sunny. So the playful birds were out. Sounds coming from different directions. I had to tune in to find where the sounds were coming from. And to follow the sounds. So the morning walk turned into chasing them, by their sound.

And after looking at the pictures I’ve taken, and doing Google search, I found out they are Red Cardinals, aka as Northern Cardinals. They are beautiful birds. But so freakin’ hard to capture in the open. I spent more than 100 shots, in singles and bursts, and came up with these for keeps.

Further reading on search results says Cardinals symbolize celebration, rejuvenation, hope, health, and joy.

Perfect sightings given the current situation that we are facing.

Thank You, once again.
