A reason to get up for a morning walk
Separated, but connected
I run. I walk. What’s the difference?
When I run, oftentimes the main focus is on 3 things: Time, Distance, Pace. I run fast when I want to do some workout. I run slow when my body tells me to run slow. And when my mind wants to wander. Which sometimes lead to a mix of run-walk-walk-walk.
When I do just walk, there is no focus on specific things. Yet I notice so many things. I feel the air. I hear the birds. I see things that I would normally not pay attention to. I can walk backwards. I can walk with my eyes closed. I can stand still, not paying attention to time. I am calm, yet focused.
Here’s a witty comparison between my morning run vs my morning walk.
Preparation.
Walk = Nothing. Relaxed with my coffee and some TJ dunkers.
Run = Rushing with so many things.
Attire.
Walk = cozy pajamas and sleepwear.
Run = Running tights or shorts.
Gear.
Walk = Camera sling bag.
Run = Water bottle or hydration vest.
Distance/Time.
Walk = 0 miles in N minutes standing still, with eyes closed facing the sun and feeling the breeze.
Run = N miles in N minutes, sometimes with labored breathing.
Mindset.
Walk = Nothing specific, yet noticing so many things.
Run = To maintain fitness level, oftentimes ignoring so many things.
So? Morning walk it is then!
Groot’s friend agrees, raising his arms in approval.

And the tulips, too, displaying their vibrant colors.
And this tiny bird sings with joy.

Addendum…
With my morning walks, I have peace, joy, and sense of gratitude. Thank You.
