Jan 2. Coast Starlight – Emeryville to Seattle.

Last night, I boarded the Coast Starlight train from Emeryville, taking me to Seattle for the continuation of this adventure. This is a 21hr trip. I was so tired yesterday that I slept the moment I tucked in.

This leg of the journey was also beautiful, but not as scenic as the California Zephyr one. I was given an upper deck sleeper this time. This turned out better because the car we’re in experienced a water leak, making the bathrooms and shower in our car unavailable. Some of the sleepers in the lower deck had to be vacated as well.
Most of the time on this trip, I spent writing what I have remembered from the previous days’ activities. Breakfast and lunch went by without any exciting notes to add here. Dinner was earlier than usual because the train’s scheduled arrival at Seattle was 8:12PM.
The train arrived a little late at Seattle. My friend, Ronald, was already at the station waiting for me. So good to see an old friend. We took the ferry to Bremerton, where I’d be spending 2 days with Ronald and his family. Nothing special planned for this part of the journey – because spending time with this friend and his family was already special. Salamat ‘nald.
